    FACTS

The cinnamon tree can grow up to 60 feet tall.

The 2 most popular types of cinnamon are: Ceylon and Cassia.

Sri Lanka produces 90% of the cinnamon we use across the world today; so much that the Portuguese and Dutch started a war over the island in the 17th Century.

    HEALTH

Cinnamon is high in fibre and calcium which helps improve colon health.

    E. coli has been found to kill 99.5% of the bacteria with just 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.

Cinnamon is antimicrobial and antifungal which is why the oil substance eugenol is extracted to use as local anaesthetic and antiseptic by dentists.

Cinnamon is also a good source of antioxidants, substances that inhibit the effect of free radicals (reactive atoms that can damage cells).

Due to its anti-inflammatory nature, cinnamon is currently being researched for its potential to fight Alzheimer's disease and decrease symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and colon cancer.
